| | | - The focal length varies for each lens. The focal length is the distance an item is held under the lens for ideal maximum magnification and workspace. As a lens increases in
magnification, the focal length shortens. There are general guidelines for focal length but focal length can vary by a person's eyesight. When doing hobbies with a magnifier, focal length is a consideration when using tools as needles, paint brushes, jigsaws, carving knives, etc. There should be ample workspace under a magnifier so that a project can be done comfortably.
- Magnification strength is a personal issue. Most people use a 3 diopter – 1.75X magnification. A
stronger magnifier is not a better magnifier unless it works for the user! As magnification becomes stronger, the lens diameter becomes shorter. This is a result of the thickness of the lens and its weight.

| | | - The 5 diopter (2.25X magnification) glass lens has a 5 inch diameter. The lens is surrounded by a 1 inch acrylic frame so that it can easily replace the existing magnifier lens. The total diameter of the
lens and frame is 7 inches.
- The 8 diopter (3.0X magnification) glass lens has a 3 inch diameter. The lens is surrounded by a 2 inch acrylic frame so that it can easily replace the existing magnifier lens. The total diameter of the lens and frame is 7 inches.
- The 12 diopter (4.0X magnification) has a 1.5 inch glass lens. It is on a chrome swing arm that slides into a special slot on the Ultra Slim
Magnifier. This magnifier can also be used as a hand held magnifier to see tiny detail.
